Cheshire West and Chester local aggregate assessments

These reports include an analysis of sales, reserves and landbanks alongside the consideration of potential future demand from both within the borough and further afield. Each Local Aggregate Assessment (LAA) covers the period 1 January to 31 December.

The Local Aggregate Assessment 2024 (incorporating sales and reserves data from January - December 2023 and 2019 import data from BGS) was formally ratified by the North West Aggregate Working Party in December 2024.

Regional aggregate working parties

The North West Aggregate Working Party (NWAWP) consists of representatives from central government departments, the mineral extraction industry and North West mineral planning authorities. Meetings of the NWAWP are held around twice a year and the NWAWP prepare monitoring reports on an annual basis. The latest monitoring report is available below.

Cheshire West and Chester Council also provided secretariat services to the NWAWP until 2015 and to the Yorkshire and Humber Aggregate Working Party (YH AWP) between 2013 and 2015.

Waste

Waste need assessments assess the waste management capacity required for Cheshire West and Chester over the Local Plan period up to 2030 and accord with the requirements of Article 28 of the European Waste Framework Directive (2008/98EC). They will also be used to inform decisions relating to waste management planning applications.
