Supplementary Planning Documents

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) are used to provide additional support and guidance to interpret and apply Local Plan policies relating to specific topic areas. The following SPDs should be read and considered in the context of the relevant adopted development plan policies.

House extensions and domestic outbuildings SPD (January 2021)

The SPD provides guidance when applying for planning permission for house extensions or alterations, domestic buildings, boundary walls and fences, and annexe accommodation.

 

Houses in Multiple Occupation and Student Accommodation SPD (April 2016)

The SPD provides guidance on how the authority will assess and deal with planning applications associated with Houses in Multiple Occupation and Purpose Built Student Accommodation.  It defines the different types of student accommodation and relevant planning powers available to control them as well as establishing a series of criteria relating to location and design, against which such proposals will be considered.

 

Oil and Gas Exploration, Production and Distribution SPD (May 2017)

The SPD provides guidance on how Cheshire West and Chester Council will assess and deal with planning applications relating to onshore oil and gas development.  It is intended to provide advice for applicants and decision makers and includes information about licensed exploration areas within the borough, the role of relevant regulatory bodies in assessing applications and monitoring development, and background on hydrocarbons and their exploration.

 

Parking Standards SPD (February 2022)

The SPD provides guidance on what parking provision will be required by Cheshire West and Chester Council in new developments. It is intended to provide advice for applicants and decision makers. Please note that the Parking Standards SPD (Updated February 2022) replaces the previous Parking Standards SPD (January 2017).

 

Travel Planning Guidance SPD (March 216)

The SPD provides guidance on how Cheshire West and Chester Council will assess and deal with planning applications where a travel plan is required.  It defines thresholds for requiring travel plans and sets out the process for production, assessment, approval and implementation of travel plans.
