Regulation 16 - Publicity stage consultation

Tattenhall and District Neighbourhood Plan was submitted to Cheshire West and Chester in June 2026 and a period of publicity will take place between Thursday 18 June and Thursday 30 July 2026. During this time, any interested parties are invited to comment on the plan and accompanying documents.  Following the publicity period, an independent examiner will be appointed who will consider the plan and any comments made.

Regulation 14 - Pre-submission Consultation

The modified Tattenhall and District NP regulation 14 consultation ran from 23 February to 13 April 2026. 

Regulations 5, 6 and 7 - Neighbourhood Area designation

Tattenhall and District Parish Council applied for a revised neighbourhood area for the purposes of producing a modified Neighbourhood Plan for the Tattenhall and District area. The neighbourhood area covers the same area as the civil parish of Tattenhall and District.

The revised Tattenhall and District Neighbourhood Area was designated on 12 April 2023.

Regulations 19 and 20 - Made Plan

Cheshire West and Chester Council decided to make the Tattenhall and District Neighbourhood Development Plan under Section 38A(4) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 on 4 June 2014.

The Tattenhall and District Neighbourhood Development Plan now forms part of the Development Plan for Cheshire West and Chester and will be taken into account in local planning decisions. The Council has published a decision statement which sets out the decision to make the neighbourhood plan and the reasons for doing so.

Policy 2 of the neighbourhood plan refers to the Tattenhall Village Design Statement (VDS) which was adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document in 2009. A copy of the VDS and the accompanying map can be found on our Parish Plans and Village Design Statements page.

Referendum

The Tattenhall and District NP referendum took place on 24 October 2013, with 96% of voters saying "yes" to the neighbourhood plan. 

The Council's Executive decision to hold the referendum was the subject of a legal challenge which delayed the formal making of the plan. The High Court case was held on 23 and 24 March 2014. The Judicial Review judgement was received on 9 May 2014. Mr Justice Supperstone ruled that none of the grounds of the challenge succeed and the case was dismissed.

Regulations 17 and 18 - Examination

Cheshire West and Chester Council appointed Mr Nigel McGurk, BSc (Hons), MCD, MBA, MRTPI, as independent examiner of the Tattenhall and District Neighbourhood Development Plan. ​Mr McGurk decided to hold a public hearing.The public hearing was held on Wednesday 14 August 2013 at The Barbour Institute, Tattenhall. His report was published on 20 August 2013.

Regulation 15 and 16 - Publicity stage consultation and SEA + HRA screening determination

The Tattenhall and District NDP regulation 16 consultation ran from 3 June to 19 July 2013.

Regulation 14 - Pre-submission consultation

The Tattenhall and District NDP regulation 14 consultation took place between 9 November and 21 December 2012.

Regulations 5, 6 and 7 - Neighbourhood Area designation

Tattenhall and District Parish Council submitted a neighbourhood area application to the Council and the neighbourhood area was designated on 17 January 2013.
